John Gomm
John Gomm (Nigel) was born in Burton Hastings (an English village near neither Burton nor Hastings and so small it didn’t have a pub!), which affected John so drastically that he became one of that most rare breed – a non-drinking Island Monkey (as the Germans say). Having shunned alcohol from an early age, John benefited from the extra sleep and fewer distractions of the undrunk lifestyle and excelled at school to the point where he didn’t want to leave. Subsequently he has spent more than a third of his life at universities, gaining a Ph.D. in chemistry and a meagre post-doc salary in return. (Stay in school, kids.) Arriving at UCSB in 2002 as a post-doctoral scholar, John promptly met his wife-to-be after escaping a particularly dull graduate party to head downtown to Sharkee’s. (They had a far superior dance floor in those days and John and Yasmin got down with their bad selves into the small hours.) They were married two years later. That self-same wife persuaded John to build on his two grade school acting appearances and walk the boards once more. |
