The Cocktail Hour

Performed from September 18th-October 31st, 2010
Recriminations and revelations both funny and poignant reveal themselves during the traditional cocktail hour in this dramatic comedy about family and the power of love.
The time is the mid-70’s, the ritual is the cocktail hour and the prodigal son has returned home to get his family’s approval about a play that he has written about them. Since it does not necessarily paint his proper family (and specifically his father) in a favorable light, they are cautious. As the martinis flow and the night drags on so do the recriminations and revelations both funny and poignant. Gurney, who penned Sylvia, has once again proven that the strength of love and family conquers all and we mustn’t take ourselves too seriously.
